We all hold some level of unresolved trauma within us. It holds us back from living our best life – whether we realize it or not. This manifests both in our body and our mind. At A Little Zen, we practice a body-oriented trauma informed therapy approach to healing. Body-oriented trauma therapy is based on the concept that body and mind are one. And, as such, should not be treated independently of one another.

At A Little Zen we use a holistic approach to traditional counselling, coaching and psychotherapy and combine it with mindful movement, intentional breathwork, yoga and sensational experience. This can happen in a traditional office setting, virtually, in the ZEN den yoga studio or outside in forest therapy. 

You learn practical skills to increase psychological flexibility and live a full and meaningful life while overcoming the physical and or emotional pain you are processing. Our goal at A Little Zen is to provide the tools to help you move out of suffering and into living with intention, using a variety of methods including trauma-informed therapy, yoga and movement, coaching and Counselling.

In addition to traditional counselling and psychotherapy options, A Little Zen also offers Forest Therapy (Nature Therapy). This is an opportunity for you to ‘get outside to get inside’. Nature is known to reduce anger, fear, stress, and other unpleasant feelings. Through our forest therapy program, A Little Zen takes our holistic approach to psychotherapy and counselling outdoors to facilitate deep personal exploration and enable you to discover your inner strength. Our forest therapy sessions can include experiential mindful movement, present moment awareness training and breathwork.

What do we do?

Our approach is organic and person-centered. We see our time with you as a partnership by collaborating on your therapeutic journey.  Together we bring awareness to the things that may be acting as a barrier for change or forward movement in your life. Think of A Little Zen as your guide through the healing journey. We provide support and teach skills that will enable you to move towards a full life.

Our office is based in Uxbridge, Ontario, ‘the Trail Capital of Canada’, an easy scenic drive from Stouffville, Newmarket, Markham, Port Perry, Pickering and Ajax. Our building and office is accessible, centrally located, with plenty of free parking.
