A Little More About Zen
For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to provide holistic alternatives for those seeking support in their wellness journey, and to share my love of the outdoors. Opening an "in and out of the office" practice took root when I began my Social Work education. After graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in 2008 from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan, I became a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and began working in hospital and community settings. At the same time, I completed my Integrative Health and Yoga Teacher Training in the Kripalu Tradition at Trinity Yoga Centre in Kelowna, BC.
With over 20 years of experience in hospital and community settings, I knew that my true calling and passion was taking my clinical practice out of the office and providing the opportunity for clients to ‘get outside to get inside’.
In 2019, I opened A Little Zen, offering clients a holistic alternative approach to clinical social work practice.
In 2023 I expanded my practice and opened The Embodiment Lab
In addition to my degrees in Social Work and Yoga certifications, I am also a certified Reiki Practitioner Level I & II; Certified Children’s Fitness Instructor; Advanced Yoga Nidra facilitator.
I look forward to providing you with guidance and support through the journey of life.
For me, yoga began as a form of self-care during my social work education and early career and quickly grew into the therapeutic practice I now offer in my programs and sessions. When I began incorporating yogic philosophy and practices into my clinical work, I was amazed by the holistic parallels of connecting mind, body, and breath in achieving overall health, wellness and balance. Yoga continues to serve my mind, body, and soul, and balances the intensity of my chosen profession. As a registered social worker, yoga teacher and mindfulness coach, sharing this gift with others is one of the biggest blessings in my life.
In 2009, I said farewell to the untamed beauty of BC and returned to my Ontario roots where I completed my graduate degree with a Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Toronto in 2012.
