Zenia Mihevc has dreamed of opening her own holistic "in and out of the office" private practice since she began her Social Work education in 2004. She graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in 2008 from the University of British Columbia - Okanagan.
In 2009, Zenia returned to her Ontario roots and she completed her graduate degree with a Master's of Social Work form the University of Toronto in 2012. She has continued her professional clinical practice in hospital and educational settings as a clinician and educator.
Zenia completed her Integrative Yoga and Health Teacher Training in the Kripalu Tradition at Trinity Yoga Centre in Kelowna, BC in 2006 and has been teaching yoga ever since. Alongside her Bachelor of Social Work degree and was amazed with the holistic parallels of connecting mind, body and breath in achieving overall health, wellness and balance. Practicing yoga began as a form of self-care throughout her social work education and profession while she worked in various hospitals and community agencies. Opportunities arose for Zenia to incorporate yoga and mindfulness into her social work practice. She has continued her professional clinical practice in hospital and educational settings as a clinician and educator.
After working for over 12 years in hospital and community settings she continually found herself being hindered by the ceilings and structures of the organizations in which she worked. She noted that she was able to provide more to the clients she served when opportunities to take her clinical practice "out of the office".
In 2019, Zenia decided to take a leap of faith and follow her passion of creating a holistic alternative approach to clinical social work practice by opening up A Little Zen - Zenia Mihevc MSW in Uxbridge Ontario.
Uxbridge, known as the Trail Capital of Canada, is surrounded by lush wooded hiking trails and ponds which make it an ideal location for Zenia to offer clinical social work "in and out of the office".
In addition to her Bachelor and Master Degrees in Social Work, Zenia is also a certified Reiki Practitioner Level I & II; certified Children’s Fitness Instructor and has been working towards completing her 500 Professional Yoga Teacher Training.
Zenia's depth of knowledge and clinical skills have been recognized in British Columbia and Ontario. She has been invited by a variety of agencies, media outlets and educational institutes to speak on topics such as children’s mental health, grief and loss, death and dying, self-care, HIV awareness, population aging, and mindfulness.
Zenia offers a variety of corporate trainings to support healthy work-life balance, reduced absenteeism, and mindful workspaces through custom trainings and lunch and learns.
